The September 2022 release introduces new Workout of the Day (WOD) functionality; Session plan functionality; additional Triggers; an additional Trigger action; and several minor updates and fixes. The update was released on 24 September 2022 and is live across all territories.
Workout of the Day (WOD)
This release of Quoox introduces Workout of the Day (WOD) functionality into both FitnessHub and the mobile app.
A WOD can comprise either an XRcize Session or a FitFlix video. These are assigned to one or more forthcoming dates, and Quoox will then present these as the “Workout of the Day” on the assigned date.
Optionally, a “Workout of the Day” menu may be turned on in FitnessHub via the Quoox Settings page. Additionally, further options may be set, including the nomenclature used for “Workout of the Day” as different facilities may wish to call it different things.
The presentation of the WOD to the member varies depending on whether they are using FitnessHub or the mobile app.
WOD via FitnessHub
Within the FitnessHub member site, the WOD is presented in several places.
Firstly, within the Session Schedule, if the selected day has a WOD assigned a new “View Workout of the Day” button will be displayed. This will be named as per the naming you configure in the Quoox settings. Clicking this button will display the workout of the day, be it a FitFlix video or structured XRcize session.
Secondly, if you have enabled the “Show WOD menu item in FitnessHub” option within the Quoox settings, the “Workout of the Day” menu will appear in FitnessHub.
Clicking on the menu option will take the member to the “Workout of the Day” page, where they may view the current WOD and also view WODs assigned to future days.
WOD via the mobile app
Within the mobile app, the location of the Workout of the Day depends on whether you have selected a FitFlix video or an XRcize session.
If you have assigned a FitFlix video as WOD, the WOD will appear at the top of the list in the FitFlix videos within the app. If you have assigned an XRcize session as WOD, the WOD will appear at the top of the list in the XRcize sessions within the app.
To view future WODs, members should use the FitnessHub members site.
Assigning the WOD schedule
To assign a WOD to a specific day, go to XRcize Programs > Sessions from the main menu. From the dropdown Actions list (towards the RHS of the screen), select Workout of the Day Schedule. This will open the WOD scheduler.
A list of future dates will be displayed, along with any current assignments associated with them. The number of days displayed will be determined by the number of days you have set to schedule in advance.
To assign a FitFlix video or XRcize session to a day, firstly select the video or session from the dropdown list. Next, tick the days to which you wish to assign the item. Finally, click Assign.
To unassign a given day, tick the day(s) to unassign and click the Unassign button.
Session Plans
This release introduces the ability to include a session plan narrative and optional download to a given session. The narrative is “free form text” and is a very simple way of providing additional detail about the content of a particular session (E.g., an exercise listing)
Session plans are created with XRcize Sessions (select XRcize Programs > Sessions from the main menu). A session plan is a “freeform” session type. Session plans may be reused and may be assigned to multiple sessions, which is handy if you run the same plan over multiple sessions.
To create a new session plan, select “Add freeform workout” from the Actions dropdown. The create screen will be displayed:
The fields that comprise the session are:
- Name – An identifying name to give your workout plan
- Category – A category for the plan, for ease of filtering
- Tags – Optional tags to allocate the plan, for ease of filtering
- Narrative – The plan itself and the information you want to be available to the member
- Attachment – Optional attachment made available to the member via FitnessHub and/or via the confirmation emails
Styling: It is possible to add basic formatting to the narrative, but this is only supported in FitnessHub. Mobile apps do not support this type of formatting, and it will be stripped and displayed as plain text to members viewing it via the mobile app.
Assigning a session plan
Once you have saved your session plan, you may assign it to one or more future sessions. This is done via the Future Assignments tab, which is shown automatically once you save the plan.
To assign a given plan to a particular session, simply “switch on” the button in the “Assigned” column alongside the session of interest. You may use the session type and venue filters to reduce the list of sessions displayed. The sessions displayed comprise all those currently scheduled, as determined by your scheduling settings.
Optional attachment
If you provide an attachment to a session plan, you may opt to have this attached to the booking confirmation and reminder emails sent to members by selecting the “Attach workout plan to booking email” option in the Workout Plan Settings section of the Quoox settings. The attachment may be a common file format, such as a PDF or a JPG image. It is recommended to keep the file size relatively small.
The attachment, if provided, is also available from within FitnessHub and may be downloaded by clicking the corresponding button on the session detail page.
Session plan in FitnessHub
If you have the “Display workout plan in FitnessHub”, sessions with a workout plan assigned to them will be displayed within the session detail page on your FitnessHub member site. The naming of the plan may be set in the Workout Plan Settings section of the Quoox settings.
Session plan in the mobile app
The session plan in the mobile app will be included in the narrative section of the session detail screen. As outlined above, mobile apps cannot support the advanced formatting, so this will be stripped and the narrative displayed as plain text.
Additional triggers
For those with Quoox GMS Ultimate, this release introduces two new triggers:
- Call Scheduled (Members and Leads variants)
- Member attendance lapsing
Call Scheduled
The call scheduled trigger is fired when a call is scheduled within the “Calls” tab of the member or lead record. This trigger is useful for, say, sending the lead/member an advisement email or text confirming the call.
Specific merge fields are available for this trigger, and may be found here.
The lead version of the trigger may be found at: Leads > Assignments > Lead call scheduled
The member version of the trigger may be found at: Members > Assignments > Member call scheduled
Member attendance lapsing
The new member attendance lapsing trigger is arguably one of the most useful triggers within the Quoox system. It adds additional versitility beyond the dashboard widget, and gives greater control over the assessment of lapsing members with complete control over the steps that are taken.
The trigger can be found at: Members > Sessions >Member attendance lapsing
It should be noted that this trigger is assessed as part of an overnight process, once per day. The trigger will fire for members matching the criteria and for the lapsed day number specified in the trigger configuration.
Additional trigger action
A new trigger action of Cancel Nurture Program has been added.
This action can be particularly useful when combined across multiple triggers. So, for example, you could have one trigger that assigns a given nurture program. Then, upon a separate later event, another trigger that cancels the nurture program. This scenario can be particularly useful when nurturing a lead/member towards a certain event.
Miscellaneous updates
As with all releases, this update also included routine security and patch updates.
In addition, a minor amendment was also made to the mobile app login process. We noticed in recent weeks that a password manager has started adding an extraneous “space” to the end of passwords, effectively entering the wrong password and preventing some members from logging in. Whilst this is an issue with the password manager, we have mitigated this by stripping trailing spaces from passwords during entry. This should therefore avoid this issue.
